Founded by lead designer and CEO Martin Coates, MCGS has its roots in Sheffield, the Peak District, North East and anywhere that people seek transformational and life-enhancing outdoor spaces that are timeless, romantic, masterfully crafted, and generate atmospheres of beauty and exclusivity.

Prior to becoming a full time garden designer, re-training in garden design at the prestigious KLC School of Design, London, Martin had a long and distinguished career in public service, including the Department of Health, Cabinet Office, and NHS in both a senior managerial and a therapeutic capacity.

MCGS is supported by a network of established and exceptional constructors, artisanal craftspeople, sculptors, artists, plant nurseries and suppliers to advise and deliver the highest quality in construction and planting, and the ability to bring together a local network of suppliers near to you to ensure that both a lessened supplier footprint, and local craft and cultural traditions are fully integrated as part of your design.
