MCGS, led by lead designer and CEO Martin Coates, has its roots on the edge of the Peak District and Sheffield, specialising in the wild and invigorating garden conditions of north and central England and the north Norfolk coast (with other areas and overseas projects considered case-by-case), therefore offering clients our experience of rural, city, and coastal situations and design.

In practice this means a ‘client first’ approach based on listening and empathy, creative vision and detailed project planning, and a pragmatic and thorough approach to delivering on time and on budget, underpinned by strong ethical and sustainable approach.

A career in public service, including the NHS in both senior managerial and a therapeutic capacity has informed the MCGS philosophy, providing a solid backbone of practical and large scale successful project delivery to the creative design process and a relentless focus on delivering clients value for money.

MCGS is supported by a network of established and exceptional constructors, craftspeople, sculptors, artists, plant nurseries and suppliers to advise and deliver the highest quality in construction and planting, and the ability to bring together a local network of suppliers near to you to ensure that both a lessened supplier footprint, and local craft and cultural traditions are fully integrated as part of your design.
