MCGS, created by lead designer and CEO Martin Coates has its roots in Sheffield, Derbyshire, and the Peak District. This has recently expanded further east to the Norfolk coasts, and increasingly overseas.

At MCGS we take a client first approach, underpinned by strong ethical and sustainable garden design practices and a constant weather eye on your budget.

For us, the garden is your gateway to the richness of the planet, human connection, and where small and simple steps to re-design and re-focus your garden can ensure that you, your buddies, and your children and grandchildren, will have a fun, rewarding, viable and sustaining home, street, town and planet for now and for hundreds of years to come.

About Martin

Prior to re-training in garden design at the KLC School of Design, London, Martin started out with a distinguished career in public service, including the NHS in both a senior managerial and a therapeutic capacity. Those experiences have forged the MCGS philosophy around gardens as patches of earth that bring care and refuge, inclusivity, energy and connection, and recovery from the challenges of daily life both in sickness and health.

MCGS is supported by a network of established and exceptional constructors, craftspeople, sculptors, artists, plant nurseries and suppliers to advise and deliver the highest quality in construction and planting, and the ability to bring together a local network of suppliers near to you to ensure that both a lessened supplier footprint, and local craft and cultural traditions are fully integrated as part of your design.
